Details
5 or 7 volcanoes for individuals. 12 volcanoes for teams. The challenge is to reach the summit of each of the assigned volcanoes and have your race number marked before finishing the event. There is no set route, and to set a good time, it is essential to prepare well beforehand, with a map and work out the best route.
This is a fun event as the volcanoes can be knocked off in any order, and the winner isn't necessarily the fastest runner, but the runner with the best route. Suggested routes are available on the event web site, but small improvements can usually be made to these.
It is a good idea to have some cash, as because there is no set route, there are no officials covering the route, and you may need to catch a taxi if you injure yourself.
